Pro Tip: if you should find one of your favourite white pieces with a stain, give it a spritz of Scrubbing Bubbles - let it sit (not too long!), wipe it off and stain be gone. That's what I found with my white poplin shirt dress from Uniqlo. A stain on the back looking something like an accident with my Bobbi Brown bronzer. It happens. With today's tip it looks just like new.
The fact that I'm not restricted to certain items of lounge wear whilst on this detox/experiment has been the shining moment in my day even if it means I get to choose one pair of sweats over another. Kind of gross, why are sweatpants still called sweatpants? Can someone do something about that please? Other ways I've exercised my creativity is through purses, lipsticks, and jewelry.
I had a date night with my husband on Friday. We went on a bike ride from North Van to Vancouver for some cocktails and pizza. It required more more planning than usual. My main goal was wearing something that didn't need a bra. This is my main priority these days. I need all the breeze I can get. I opted for a cropped ruffled top, black shorts, and sandals - of course I brought along an extra few articles of clothing as I'm experienced in the sweat department. Husband was not so lucky. We B-lined to a cheap Chinese shop for a basic tee shirt upon arriving to our destination. Outfit preplanning goes a long way!
Saturday called for a slightly dressier ensemble. I celebrated one of my best friend's engagements. I ate Pancit dressed in an Eliza Faulkner off the shoulder top - it's proving a little more difficult to wear seeing as it doesn't allow for the mobility that I'm used to. Later on we rode our bikes down to a friend's birthday celebration where I swapped the off the shoulder top for a thrifted low back blouse, cut offs and a couple glasses of wine.
Sunday was my workout day and I chose a thrifted Tara Jarmon dress that could moonlight as a maternity dress for a woman in her second trimester. I changed into thrifted shirt and shorts later on as I emptied garbages, tidied and finished up Game of Thrones.
Tuesday I branched out and wore my striped t-shirt dress from Uniqlo. It's not on the original capsule collection list but the versatility of the piece might usurp another item. Initially I started the day with a secondhand Club Monaco skirt of a polka dot pattern but couldn't decide on a work appropriate shirt as I stood in front of the mirror donning a cropped eyelet shirt not appropriate for the office and more suited for a day at the beach. In the evening we went for another bike ride so I wore my feminist t-shirt and denim shorts. Do bike riding outfits count as leisure wear? I could make that a rule.
Wednesday I made that skirt work. She's currently being paired up with a black Topshop tank top from 2013 and my Prada shoes. To say I'm content with the final effect would be an understatement. I'm also wearing my new Marc Jacobs blush - probably shouldn't have bought it, I'm a bit of a blush hoarder - and a wine-tinted lip balm. Badda bam. Hump day is mine for the taking.
See ya'll next week for the third capsule installment!
